NewJeans Members Spotted in Public Amid Ongoing Legal Battle and Hiatus.

The K-pop sensation NewJeans, consisting of members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, has been making headlines recently despite their announced hiatus following a legal dispute with their label, ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE. On April 15, 2025, fans were thrilled to spot Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein together at a birthday café celebrating Danielle’s 20th birthday, marking their first public appearance since the hiatus announcement. Meanwhile, Minji and Hanni were seen enjoying a holiday in Rome, Italy, with photos surfacing of Hanni near the Pantheon, sparking excitement and discussions among fans on social media. These sightings have been a bittersweet moment for their fanbase, known as Bunnies, as the group navigates a challenging period.

The group’s legal battle with ADOR intensified after a Seoul Central District Court ruling in March 2025, which prohibited NewJeans from pursuing independent activities under their rebranded name, NJZ. The court upheld ADOR’s contract, stating that NewJeans failed to prove significant violations by the label. This followed the group’s attempt to terminate their contract in November 2024, citing mistreatment and the dismissal of their mentor, Min Hee-jin. Despite the setback, NewJeans performed a new track, Pit Stop, at ComplexCon Hong Kong on March 23, 2025, before announcing their hiatus. The group has since appealed the court’s injunction, with a private hearing held on April 10, 2025, though the verdict remains pending.

Adding to the complexity, a recent report revealed that Hyein’s father, who opposed the contract termination, had his parental rights revoked in relation to the case, while her mother was granted sole authority. The parents of all five members issued a joint statement denying rumors of discord, emphasizing unity. Fans remain hopeful for NewJeans’ return, encouraged by the members’ message to Bunnies: “Our time will come.” As the legal proceedings continue, the group’s resilience and fan support highlight their enduring impact on the K-pop industry.
